If you lose your financial aid but had a situation that made it hard to meet the rules, you can ask for an appeal. This means you can explain your situation to the Financial Aid Office and ask them to give you another chance.
Some examples of situations that may be accepted include:
You will receive an email to register for one of these workshops via email. These workshops help you understand the appeal process and are available in both English and Spanish.

Your appeal will be reviewed within 45 days. If approved, it will only count for current and future semesters, not past ones.
If your appeal is approved, you must meet with a Financial Aid Counselor to make a SAP Academic Plan. This plan will explain what you need to do to keep getting financial aid and work toward meeting the SAP rules again.
If it looks like it is possible to eventually meet the SAP rules in the future, you鈥檒l be placed on Probation Status. This means you can still get financial aid, as long as you follow the steps in your Academic Plan. Your progress will be checked at the end of each term and if you continue to meet the requirements of your Academic Plan, you will remain on Probation Status and receive Financial Aid for the next term. This process will occur every term until you are meeting the SAP rules. Because there鈥檚 not much time between terms, there might be a short delay in telling you if you鈥檙e still eligible, and your aid money might be a little late.
You鈥檒l get a copy of your Academic Plan. You鈥檒l only get financial aid for classes that are required for your program. If you don鈥檛 follow your plan, you will lose financial aid again. You鈥檒l get a message about this in your and . If something else serious happens, you can submit another appeal in the future.
If your appeal is denied, you can鈥檛 get financial aid. Your progress will be checked again at the next regular review.
Second Review: You can ask for a second review. A different person who didn鈥檛 look at your first appeal will review it. Their decision will be final鈥攖here is no other way to appeal after that.
I would suggest removing this section entirely. I think this is a red flag for auditors to have a statement that 鈥渕ost appeals are approved鈥. I think it is ok to mention there are situations where we cannot approve appeals and provide examples instead, such as not liking your professor. What are your thoughts on how to proceed here?
